Poem: Interlopers

John Sherbino

(This poem ran in the April/May 2017 issue of The SCOOP.)

It's spring and the Grackles are back; a cloud of beaks descending

Displacing the locals; winter hardened but few in number

Some larger birds circle overhead then silently leave

Complaints will be made and discussed on power lines.
